Cupping is one of the old methods of manual therapy in history, practiced by many cultures and civilizations. In Western medicine, specifically sports performance, cupping is used to help release myofascial tension built up from activity or injury.
Plastic or glass, dome-shaped cups are methodically placed prior to using a pump to create suction over soft tissue. This vacuum pressure pulls the layers of tissue apart allowing for increased circulation to the area, stimulating the bodies natural filtration system.
